General Remarks
The works in Greek and Latin of nine important classical Greek poets plus eight secondary ones.
Greek Connection
Greek texts of 17 ancient Greek poets. The book belonged to the scholar of ancient Greek literature and music Marcus Meibomius.
Provenance
M. Meibomius signature on the title page. The copy of the important Danish scholar and historian of music Marcus Meibomius (1630 – 1710/11). He is most known for his work on ancient Greek music Antiquae musicae auctores septem, Amsterdam, 1652. He even attempted concert performances reconstructing Greek music. In 1655 he published the De Proportionibus, (Copenhagen) which was however immediately attacked by John Wallis in his Operum Mathematicorum, Oxford 1656-7 (Chapter: Adversus Meibomium, de proportionibus dialogus). He also published Diogenes Laertius, Amsterdam 1692.
